The AABCS 2001: A Book Lovers Dream
On Sunday, October 21, 2001, hundreds of readers from across the country will travel to New Orleans, LA to be a part of the second annual African American Book Club Summit at Sea. The 7-day literary cruise will take place onboard the Carnival Cruise Ship the MS Inspiration and include some of the countrys finest authors. The participants are book club members who represent over 20 states. These avid readers will meet to discuss books, exchange ideas, develop strategies, and meet some of the countrys finest authors. Participating authors include best-selling novelist: J. California Cooper, Bernice McFadden, Joyce Carol Thomas, Kimberla Lawson Roby, Marcus Major, Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes plus many more for a total of 30 authors. The official bookseller for the event is New Orleans based Afro-American Book Stop who has two locations in New Orleans. Readers will get an opportunity to meet and greet their favorite authors as well as be introduced to up and coming authors during workshops and panel discussions. Writers will also have an opportunity to discuss and obtain information on self-publishing, marketing and writing fiction.
